Mitsubishi Chemical, Japan's largest chemical maker, has earned an operating profit greater than nonoperatingexpenses and one-time writeoffs only four times in the last quarter-century, figures Toby Williams, head of Asian chemical research at SBC Warburg in Hong Kong.
